About me

Japan

Yokohama35.4°N 139.6°E

I was born and raised in Japan.

Entrance exam

My first setback.

I applied to Yokohama Kokusai, one of the most international high schools in the prefecture, and didn't get in.That was when my father suggested I get through three years at a private high school, work hard, and go to Malaysia for university.

Malta

In my second year of high school, Malta shook me.

At sixteen I spent two weeks at an EF language school, in classes with students from Europe and South America.I went thinking I could speak English, and got taken apart: I couldn't say what I actually meant, and it stung.Being exposed to different people, cultures, and ways of thinking made me realize how much more there was beyond the environment I had always known.

Back in Japan

I remembered what my father said.

Back home, I threw myself into studying English.Malta had shown me how much I enjoyed being somewhere international, and that brought my father's advice back to mind.I decided to study in Malaysia.

March – September 2024

Six months of English, without leaving Japan.

Between graduating from high school in March 2024 and arriving in Malaysia that September, I went to every international exchange event I could.I made friends from abroad and, being the local, took them all over Odawara, Kamakura and Minato Mirai. Some months I spoke more English than Japanese. We still keep in touch.

Malaysia

I wanted to see more of the world.

In September 2024 I moved to Malaysia, where I'm studying International Business & Marketing and building my life.

What I value

Continuing to challenge myself.

What I value most is stepping into unfamiliar environments, and discovering how far I can grow through those experiences.

Going forward

The journey isn't over yet.

I want to keep moving around the world, experiencing different cultures and places, while documenting the challenges, lessons, and moments that shape me along the way.
